I play a lot of Racing Car simulators on my PC and found using the keyboard or a joystick did not bring the best out of the game, what I needed was a proper steering wheel and pedals. I studied a lot of different sites and from those made up this.

The base is from a scrap piece of kitchen top measuring about 8.5" * 16.5" and 1 1/8" deep. The steering shaft is 1" dia steel 8.5" long. The tube it sits in is 5" long. This is held down by the jubilee clip. The Steering wheel is from 20mm Conduit. Overall dimensions for this are 8.5" * 5.5". Foam rubber grips from a cycle shop are slid onto the wheel for more comfort.

2 gear change push button switches are fitted into the flange for the steering wheel mounting, these are operated by the rocking aluminium plate which is loosely mounted by the 2 bolts so that it can be operated by the finger tips. There are also 2 addition buttons on top off the wheel, these can be configured as camera change buttons or handbrake in Colin McRae Rally or as a clutch button in Grand Prix Legends.
